hello sorry me post late but i think there is a software or u can say codecs
but u have to do ... one think that i know ..
when win media player demands the codecs u should be on internet he would automatically install it
hmmmmmm and INSTALL DIVX ... that also solves the problem but
.avi is only run when player intall the recommended codecs from site |

dear farhan .. its a very common problem but i think u know that all if the .avi file is ripped by DVD then its runable by applying the above solution given by scorpion and if its riped from vcd/mp3 then its only runable by quick time or the codecs that you can got from MS site
